Buckeyes begin preparing for new season

The annual “Meet the Buckeyes” community pep rally to celebrate the end of the first week of 2011 practices will be held at Buckeye Stadium Saturday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. The Buckeyes’ first scrimmage is at Buckeye Stadium next Friday, Aug. 12 against Whitehouse. The ninth grade and JV scrimmages start at 6 p.m. and the varsity will scrimmage after those are over. A concession stand will be open. The Gilmer Mirror will publish the “2011 Guide to Upshur County Football” section in the Wednesday, Aug. 24 issue, the day before Gilmer travels to Atlanta to open the regular season.
