Brenham’s first football season was in 1909 with 2 games. No games can be found for the 2010  season, but since 2011 the Cubs have played football every year since. That long history has  resulted in Brenham ranking 33rd in Texas high school football history with 676 wins, including  32 consecutive district wins between 2010-2014. The Cubs have recorded 34 district  championships, 14 undefeated regular seasons and 18 10-win seasons in their history

Two current members of the Buckeyes football team, Trillyon Butler and Mycah  Easley were members of both relay teams. Current Buckeyes offensive lineman Lucas Cano  placed second in the discus and receiver/defensive back Brendan Webb participated in the high  jump  

Gilmer has had 6 former players play in the NFL; including two active NFL players, Kris Boyd  (Houston Texans) and Blake Lynch (Seattle Seahawks) who starred on the Buckeyes 2014 state  championship team
