Gilmer is the 2023 & 2024 Texas 4A State Champion in Track & Field. In 2024 The Buckeyes  won the 4x100 meters relay with a 4A state record time of 40.56 and won the 4x200 meters  relay with a time of 1:24.71. Two current members of the Buckeyes football team, Trillyon  Butler and Mycah Easley were members of both relay teams. Current Buckeyes offensive  lineman Lucas Cano placed second in the discus and receiver/defensive back Brendan Webb  participated in the high jump 

Gilmer has had 6 former players play in the NFL; including two active NFL players, Kris Boyd  (Houston Texans) and Blake Lynch (Seattle Seahawks) who starred on the Buckeyes 2014 state  championship team 

Texarkana Pleasant Grove opened their new $7 million-dollar, 27,000 square feet mega field  house in the north end zone of the football stadium this summer. The facility comes with a state of-the-art sports medicine facility, including a hot/cold tub equipped with a first-class sound  system and LED lights. The facility comes with a team room that features 128 seats with  stadium seating and has a 4K LED board to watch game videos. The exterior of the building  features a 45 X 27 foot jumbotron facing the field
