From The Gilmer Mirror
The Oklahoma Sooners needed more players from Gilmer last Saturday in Dallas when they played the Texas Longhorns in the annual Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl.
Former Gilmer Buckeyes phenom Manuel Johnson, who quarterbacked Gilmer to its only state championship in 2004 and is now a sophomore wide receiver at OU, caught four passes for 55 yards, all of which went for first downs in 3rd-and-long situations, and also carried nine yards on a reverse.
Texas won the game, though, 28-10.
