Coach Matt Turner emphasizes continuity in talk to Rotarians
COACH MATT TURNER
Gilmer Buckeyes new head football coach Matt Turner told the Gilmer Rotary Club on Tuesday there will be no changes in the football program’s philosophy in the wake of the team winning its third state championship in the last 11 seasons.
Turner, the team’s offensive coordinator last year, was an assistant coach to immediate past head Coach Jeff Traylor for the past 12 seasons. The school board recently named Turner, 56, as head coach after Traylor resigned early this year to become an assistant football coach at the University of Texas at Austin.
