FOX Sports Southwest’s Live Texas High School Football Coverage to be Televised Nationally on FS2
IRVING –Just how big is high school football in Texas? It’s so big, in fact, that Week 1 games televised regionally on FOX Sports Southwest as part of its Texas Football Days celebration will be simulcast nationally on FS2.
FOX Sports Southwest will televise back-to-back Texas High School football games live on Friday, Aug. 31, beginning with Brock at Brownwood at 5:30 p.m. CT, followed by Lufkin at Longview at 8:30 p.m. The Brock-Brownwood matchup will also be televised live nationally on FS2, while the Lufkin-Longview rivalry game will air on FS2 on a delay at 1:30 a.m. CT.
FOX Sports Southwest’s signature High School Scoreboard Live show will serve as the postgame show to wrap up the night from Longview, and will also be televised live on FS2 at 11:30 p.m. CT. It won't hold the intrigue it did last season, but it will still be worth the trip. No. 1 Carthage faced No. 2 Gilmer in a much-anticipated game this past season in Gilmer.  After a tightly contested first half, Carthage pulled away to win, 48-28. The Buckeyes will get their shot at revenge on Sept. 21.

ETSN - Top 25 Games of 2018: No. 16 Pleasant Grove at Gilmer

Want a game that could decide a district championship? Look no further than Gilmer/Pleasant Grove on Oct. 19. The Buckeyes and Hawks both have title aspirations in 4A Division II. Pleasant Grove is coming off of its first state championship and looking to roll its success into 2018. Gilmer, on the other hand, is a perennial power in East Texas and always a threat to win its district.

Gilmer-Kilgore scrimmage here on Friday designated as OUR DAY TO SHINE fundraiser

Gilmer High School and Kilgore High School will be participating in a scrimmage at Jeff Traylor Stadium in Gilmer on Friday, August 17, 2018, with all proceeds being donated to the Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation Benevolence Fund. This day has become known as OUR DAY TO SHINE.

The THSCEF Benevolence Fund was established by the Texas High School Coaches Association Board of Directors to assist athletes and coaches with special needs or hardships. 

Scrimmage time will be 6 p.m. for ninth grade and JV teams with the varsity scrimmage to follow after they conclude. 

Admission will be your donation. The public is invited to attend.

Mexia eliminates Gilmer at 2018 Texas 7on7 Championships

The Buckeyes rallied from a 19-7 halftime deficit to tie it at 19-19, but Mexia prevailed, 25-19, Friday morning in College Station.

Buckeyes make it into championship bracket at 2018 Texas 7on7 Championships

At Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station Thursday, the Gilmer Buckeyes dropped their opening game in pool play against Decatur, 40-33, but then won their next two games against La Vernia (39-25) and Hitchcock (47-28) to finish second in Pool A and qualify for the championship round on Friday.

Gilmer will play Mexia Friday morning at 9 a.m. The winner of that game will move on to play the winner of the Cuero-Stephenville game.

Two spots in the 2018 Division II 7-on-7 State Tournament will be up for grabs Saturday morning in East Texas as Division II Texas 7-on-7 State Qualifying continues with the Palestine SQT.

Buckeyes 7 on 7 team qualifies for state

Congratulations to the Gilmer Buckeyes 7 on 7 team which went 3-1 Saturday at the Spring Hill State Qualifying Tournament at Lear Park in Longview and qualified along with the Palestine Wildcats for the Texas State 7 on 7 Tournament in College Station.

The Buckeyes defeated Quinlan Ford (46-19), Pittsburg (40-33) and Liberty-Eylau (34-20). They lost to Palestine (33-15) in pool play.

Spring Hill SQT Pools

Two spots in the 2018 Division II 7on7 State Tournament will be up for grabs Saturday morning in the Piney Woods as Division II Texas 7on7 State Qualifying continues with the Spring Hill SQT. 14 teams will compete in two pools of four teams each, along with two pools of three teams each.

The 2018 7 on 7 season continues in preparation for the Spring Hill State Qualifying Tournament coming up on Saturday, May 19, in Longview. These two teams competed against each other at Jeff Traylor Stadium in Gilmer, Texas.

Buckeyes 7 on 7 season starts May 8

On Tuesday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. or so Gilmer will play in Sulphur Springs just against each other and then on Saturday, May 19, will go to the Spring Hill State Qualifying Tournament. 
On May 26 the Buckeyes will hold our tournament that is not an SQT.

Then Gilmer will go on June 9 to the Palestine SQT.
