9-11-15 Football Show Part 2 (begins at 1:50 mark)

Backup quarterback Brett Rice led the Gilmer Buckeyes to a 23-0 victory over the Tatum Eagles at Jeff Traylor Stadium here Friday night. Demarco Boyd scored two touchdowns for the Buckeyes and Red Jones had the other one. Juan Esquivel added a 21-yard field goal for the final three points.
Zac Spears, who started the first two games at QB for Gilmer, reportedly underwent emergency appendectomy surgery Wednesday night. He has reportedly received medical clearance to return to practice on Monday.

The Buckeyes won their 19th game in a row and their 22nd straight home game. It was the first shutout for the Black Flag Defense since a 70-0 win over Canton here on Oct. 17, 2014.Next, Gilmer (3-0) hosts the Daingerfield Tigers on Friday, Sept. 18.

The Gilmer Buckeyes (2-0) won their 18th straight game and 21st consecutive home game Friday night at Jeff Traylor Stadium in Gilmer. 

The Buckeyes got off to a 29-0 halftime lead. 

However, the Pirates (1-1) came back with three scores to narrow the lead to 29-19 early in the fourth quarter. 

Gilmer scored another touchdown after that to extend its lead. 

The Buckeyes continue playing at home on Friday, Sept. 11, against the Tatum Eagles.

Gilmer is set to host Pine Tree in the Red Zone Game of the Week. GILMER, TX (KLTV) -
If week one was any indication, second year head coach David Collins has Pine Tree headed in the right direction. We will really see this Friday, when the Pirates head to Gilmer to take on the defending Class 4A Division II state champions in the Red Zone game of the week. In the much-anticipated season-opening matchup between Liberty-Eylau and Gilmer, the preseason Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the East Texas Class 4A poll, it was the Buckeyes who came out on top.
