Pleasant Grove Hawks win Azalea Orthopedics 7 on 7 Tournament

The Pleasant Grove Hawks defeated the Whitehouse Wildcats in the championship game, 38-21.

The Gilmer Buckeyes won Pool A with a 3-0 record, but lost to Whitehouse, the runner-up of Pool B, in a semifinal matchup, 27-24.

Gilmer's wins were over Spring Hill (45-42), Sulphur Springs (35-28) and Lindale (62-6).

The tournament was played at Jeff Traylor Stadium in Gilmer on Saturday, May 6.

Matt Turner Hopes Strong Leadership Will Help Push Gilmer Back To A State Title

Lots of points, lots of yards, and explosiveness. That’s what Gilmer has been known for over the last 17 seasons under Jeff Traylor and former offensive coordinator and current head coach Matt Turner Last season was no exception to that trend as the Buckeyes averaged nearly 49 points and 500 yards of offense per game en route to another run to the Class 4A Division II state semifinals. Despite those impressive numbers, the offense was not what most impressed Turner about his team.

Gilmer Azalea Orthopedics 7-on-7 Tournament

Gilmer's 7 on 7 tournament is scheduled for May 6th. There will be varsity, JV, current 7th & 8th grade divisions as well as a lineman's challenge.

Registration fee is $250.00 for first team entered, and $200.00 for each additional team.

Lineman challenge is $10.00 per person.
