Gilmer Buckeyes are underdogs against undefeated Argyle

GO BACK in time to Friday night, Sept. 10. The Gilmer Buckeyes aka the Gap Soldiers were viewed as having more “gaps” than “soldiers” after losing their second consecutive game at home 43-36 to the Jacksonville Indians, which marked the first back-to-back losses at Buckeye Stadium since 1996.

Since that night, though, with the exception of a 38-21 loss on the road to the Carthage Bulldogs on Oct. 15, the orange-and-black soldiers have won every battle and closed quite a few gaps to do so.

SPOILED ROTTEN

Most people who live in Gilmer, Texas consider it a privilege. If they weren’t born and raised here, we natives figure you probably had no control over that, so we’re willing to overlook it…but we will make the assumption that any good sense would’ve gotten you here as quick as you could. I’m often thankful that good sense is such a rare commodity. Otherwise, Gilmer would be too crowded.
