Another great season!



Another great season!
Gilmer loves our Buckeyes more than ever

The award-winning and critically-acclaimed television series Friday Night Lights — set in the mythical, high school football-crazy town of Dillon, Texas — concluded a 5-year run recently.

Watching that series often reminded people watching it, usually in a good way, of our real-life situation here in the very real, high school football-crazy town of Gilmer, Texas (and it is safe to say the same feeling came over other viewers in other towns all across the Lone Star State).

THE GILMER BUCKEYES put up a valiant effort against the Argyle Eagles in Corsicana last Friday night, but ended their season with a 51-35 loss in a game that was much closer than the score indicated.

The Gilmer Buckeyes lost a hard-fought battle to the Argyle Eagles in the Class 3A Division II Region II championship game at Tiger Stadium in Corsicana Friday night.

Congratulations to the Gilmer Buckeyes, who finish the 2011 season with a record of 13-1.

We will always love all of you for the pride and honor with which you have played the game of football and for all the thrills you have given the Army of Buckeyes which has followed you on the long road of the 2011 season.

This team played 11 out of its 14 games on the road and won all but the last one. The three it won at Buckeye Stadium were all against defending state champions.

Congratulations also to the Argyle Eagles and good luck to them as they represent Region II in the semifinal round against the Monahans Loboes in Abilene on Friday night, Dec. 9.

Traylor's arm lifts Gilmer during playoffs



Gilmer’s Jordan Traylor wishes his best friend wasn’t injured. He wishes his best friend wasn’t out for the season.
But the senior has taken over fellow quarterback Luke Turner’s leadership role in the playoffs.
