Gilmer 31, Atlanta 17

The Gilmer Buckeyes successfully kicked off the 2012 season Thursday night on Earl Campbell Field at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler, opening the 2012 Football Classic with a 31-17 victory over the Atlanta Rabbits.

TYLER — Gilmer graduated two all-state-caliber quarterbacks in the spring, and a few injuries to a veteran defense during preseason scrimmages took some of the experience away from that unit.

Gilmer established quarterback Tanner Barr in the first half, while Atlanta went through two signal callers before settling on sophomore Chase Musgrove.

Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic - Ticket Information and Directions to TMF Rose Stadium

Advance tickets for the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler are available Monday through Wednesday during business hours at the Gilmer ISD Administration Building, 500 S. Trinity St. in Gilmer.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students.

The Gilmer Buckeyes and Atlanta Rabbits kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. Gilmer is the visiting team.

Gilmer set to renovate football stadium

GILMER — Gilmer ISD trustees Monday night approved hiring WRL General Contractors, Ltd. of Flint as construction manager for the estimated $1.686 million major renovation of Buckeye Stadium.

Buckeyes mentor guardedly optimistic about 2012 season

Gilmer Head Coach and Athletic Director Jeff Traylor was optimistic, but guarded, when he addressed the Gilmer Rotary Club Tuesday about prospects for this year’s edition of the Buckeyes.

TISD releases Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic lineup

According to Tyler ISD

TYLER (KYTX) – The ninth-annual Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic, which has become a showcase for some of the best high school football across Texas, will return to Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1 on the opening week of the 2012 season.

The Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic will renew a collision from 2010 when Atlanta meets Gilmer on Thursday Night.

Buckeyes reload for 2012

They are 134-22 since 2000 with three appearances in the state championship game, winning it twice. Gilmer opens the season in Tyler against Atlanta on Thursday, Aug. 30.
